World of the Star Runners
In the center of the Milky Way, the “Galactic Homeworld” has existed for over a thousand years.
This is the home to the STAR RUNNERS: a race with special connections to the invisible energy threads that bind the universe together. Their supernatural abilities manipulate quantum particles within time and space, allowing them to see briefly into the future, warp time, and shorten the distance between worlds.
Only Star Runners can navigate the powerful starships that travel through space. Their unique abilities are essential to the growth and wealth of all the worlds in the center of the Galaxy, and because of this, they live as a protected race. Intermarriage with Star Runners is strictly forbidden, and punishable by death.
Defying this tradition, Aurora’s mother falls in love with a prince of the ruling race. When she is found with child, the two lovers flee the Homeworld for the outer edges of the Galaxy, looking desperately for the planet where they can raise their daughter in peace.
AURORA PALMER
Ever since she was born, Aurora has seen the world through the prism of fast-moving matter and energy. Her adoptive parents taught her to keep her abilities hidden, until their sudden death in a car crash ten years ago. Only a beautiful Star Amulet from her birth mother reminds her of her mysterious origins. Aurora must ensure her true nature is never revealed, and that others will never learn how dangerous she is.
SCOTT DAVIS
Strong and naturally athletic, Scott has enjoyed all the privileges being the son of a well-known government scientist. He is a star of the basketball court, but he has often felt the absence of his career-driven father, who is often gone for weeks at a time, and who rarely makes time for family. Scott has a soft spot for the underdog and is eager to please. But he is looking for direction in his life, wondering what the future holds for him.
KRISTINE SULLIVAN
An active, athletic force of nature in cheerleading and social circles, Kristine has an inquisitive mind and natural talent for making friends. Raised by multi-racial parents, Kristine realized early on to set her own expectations and never let anyone set the agenda for her life. Fascinated by engineering and active in student government, she’s a true friend who never abandons someone she’s sworn to help.
MONICA DARK
Dark and strikingly powerful, Monica appears at Madison High cloaked in mystery. While the boys are drawn to her stunning good looks, her dark eyes hide the truth behind her unknown origins, and a secret that has Aurora directly in her sights.
MAXINE PINKERTON
Attractive, fit, and confident, with a brilliant mind, Pinkerton is the ambitious creator of Vanguard, the government’s “black box” agency for UFO research, threat assessment, and response. Driven by her early experience studying crash fragments and alien artifacts, Pinkerton has come to believe the Earth is under potential threat and examines all of the evidence to prepare a response to it.
RANDALL DAVIS
A seasoned astronomer with a passion for exoplanet research and the search for life on other planets. His Navy career secretly exposed him early on to the investigation of “unidentified aerial phenomenon” and unexplained artifacts around the world. He worked for Vanguard until he had a falling out with the agency’s ambitious leader, Maxine Pinkerton. He’s taken steps to “settle down” and establish a more public profile, but it doesn’t come naturally.
D’ANNA
Born into a privileged family, D’Anna became one of the most gifted Star Runners in the Homeworld. Her ability to navigate its sophisticated starships was matched only by her strength in battle. All this changed when her forbidden love for the Son of the Emperor forced them both to flee towards Earth. Fearing the worst, she prepared a library of holographic instructions for her unborn daughter, Aurora.
PAMELA JORDAN
Strong and compassionate, Pamela Jordan has dedicated her life to protecting endangered youth, abandoned children, and children in foster homes. Born into a lower income family, Pamela worked her way off the streets, earned her way through college. One of her first assignments was the placement of orphaned Aurora. For ten years she has made this assignment a personal and professional priority.
